Keith and Shauna Ewing Morgan reached a plea agreement and sentencing was expected on Oct. 21, but has been rescheduled for Nov. 18. A reason for the rescheduling was not given and the municipal court administrator could not be reached Thursday.
Keith Morgan, 56, pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty and filing a false police report, while Shauna Ewing Morgan, 43, pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty.
The charges stem from a March incident when Keith Morgan brought a 15-year-old Cocker Spaniel named Sammy to the Associated Humane Society in Tinton Falls claiming he found the dog on the side of the road in a garbage bag.Sammy was covered in urine and his fur was so matted together that he could not stand.
The Morgans each face up to six months in jail.
